UK Patent Grant

Avid is pleased to announce that its subsidiary, Pill protect Limited, has been granted a patent in the UK, effective from 29 August 2007, for its innovative heat sealed lid solution for blister packaged drugs. The product enables random perforation to be applied to any blister packed drug and avoids damaging the drug on exit. It is available in varying degrees of child resistance and requires no adaptation to existing packaging lines.

The patent grant will considerably reduce any potential risk to the Avid group, and opens up the way to global licensing agreements. Initial tests with two international pharmaceutical manufacturers have been successful.
